Château Coutet | Barsac

Château Coutet Vineyards and Winery Buildings

Château Coutet is a Premier Cru Classé sweet wine from the Sauternes-Barsac appellation located in Barsac, in the southern part of France's Bordeaux vineyards. Marcel Baly and two of his sons, Philippe and Dominique, became the new owners of Château Coutet in 1977 and they remain in charge to this day. Originally from Alsace, the family set about the task of renewing the vineyard and the winery buildings. In 1994, the two brothers concluded an agreement with Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA and as a result the winemaking team is now advised by the technical staff from Château Mouton Rothschild. Most recently the 2014 vintage of Château Coutet was ranked third in the Top 100 World Wines published by Wine Spectator, an achievement which has spurred the team at the estate on to even greater things.
