Château d'Estoublon | Provence

The house of Château d'Estoublon in Provence

Founded in 1489, Château d’Estoublon was for many years the property of the Comtes des Baux. Today, the estate is co-owned by the Courbit, Prats (former owners of the Château Cos d’Estournel) and Bruni-Sarkozy families.

Sloping gently down the southern side of the Alpilles, the 300-hectare domain has been used to make olive oils and wines for over 500 years. It is covered with lush, winding vineyards and picturesque olive groves and the 17th Century honey-coloured Château is set proudly among these.

The organically farmed vineyards include 18 hectares of Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Roussane and Marsanne vines planted on limestone, clay and sandy-silt gravel soils. There is construction of a new, modern, gravity-fed winery underway and under the technical direction of Anaïs Maillet, the estate is in the process of converting to biodynamic farming.
