Château Peyrat | Graves

Château Peyrat in the Graves district of Bordeaux

Château Peyrat is a small property in the south of the Graves area, owned and run by Madame Cambillou. The sandy-gravel Graves soil, and the 25-year’s average age of Madame Cambillou’s vines make for a very respectable petit vin with plenty of vibrant, sweet red and black fruit, pepper and good stone minerality.

The Graves is essentially where red Bordeaux originated so there is a long history of winemaking here. Although historically favoured by the British market, the area is today sometimes forgotten with the over simplification of Bordeaux as Right and Left Bank. Out of sight can mean out of mind for the market but this, in turn, can make for excellent value for these superb wines.
