Domaine Les Pallières | Gigondas

Domaine Les Pallières Vineyards to the north of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the commune of Gigondas

Domaine Les Pallières is the finest estate in Gigondas and certainly one of the finest wine estates in the Southern Rhône. Located to the north of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the commune of Gigondas, Les Pallières is a little paradise on earth. The domaine had been a continuously running farm within the same family since the fifteenth century and Les Pallières was once a famous domaine with wines of impeccable character, yet the property had slowly fallen into disrepair and by 1998, the Roux brothers wanted to make a change. With no future successors to take their place, they decided to sell.

It was eventually purchased by the Brunier brothers, Daniel and Frédéric, of the famed Vieux Télégraphe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape alongside Kermit Lynch, their longtime American importer. Since then huge improvements and investments have been made both in the vineyards and the cellar. The 25 hectares of vines, with an average age of 65-70 years, are grouped in hillsides around the estate buildings and are dotted with cherry trees, fig trees, olive trees, peach trees, walnut trees in addition to the many trees that make up the surrounding forest. Terraces have now been built and reinforced, allowing for better water retention and a new winery was built to receive the harvested parcels individually in gravity-fed tanks.

Les Pallières has always been sold by the top restaurants in France and their wines are becoming increasingly sought after.
