Domaine Roger Sabon | Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Roger Sabon Vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France

Domaine Roger Sabon is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape property that is currently on top form, producing a formidable range of impressive wines. Robert Parker has been a regular visitor and customer for over 20 years offering an indication as to how highly recommended their range of wines are. The winemaking at Roger Sabon has been in the hands of the talented Didier Négron (whose wife is a Sabon) since 2004.

The vineyards are planted in some of the best sites of Châteauneuf-du-Pape including, Les Cabrières, La Crau, Courthezon and Nalys, all of which contain “galets roulés”.  The plantings are dominated by Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre and the vines have a minimum age of 50 years. Fermentation takes place in small cement vats and small stainless steel cuves, with pumping over and a cuvaison which lasts for 20 days at controlled temperatures. The red Châteauneuf-du-Pape are then matured in a series of foudres and barrels for around 2 years prior to release.

From the entry level Vin de Table Le Sabounet through to the top-end Le Secret des Sabon (one of the region's most highly rated wine) the wines of Domaine Roger Sabon are certainly ones to look out for.
