Domaine Thunevin-Calvet | Côtes du Roussillon

Entrance to the new Domaine Thunevin-Calvet winery building

Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, on the famous Cathar castle route, Domaine Thunevin-Calvet is a collaboration formed in 2001 by two winegrowers: Jean-Luc Thunevin, owner of Château Valandraud in Saint Emillion and Jean-Roger Calvet from Maury.

Jean-Luc bought a small parcel of vines which, pooled with Jean-Roger's vines, allowed them to produce their first vintage, which was vinified in a garage in an alleyway in the village of Maury. Gradually the property has grown to 65 hectares and the garage has been replaced by a state-of-the-art eco-friendly winery located on the outskirts of Maury, which was completed in 2008.

The vineyards are planted to Grenache (70%), Carignan (10%), Syrah (15%), Mourvèdre (4%) and Blends (1%) which are various white grape varieties such as Grenache Blanc, Gris and Macabeu which are scattered in the oldest plots and allow for the development of the estates white cuvées.

These are wines of tremendous character and offer superb value at every level.
