Etienne Sauzet | Puligny Montrachet

Inside the Etienne Sauzet barrel cellar

Etienne Sauzet, located in the village of Puligny-Montrachet, is arguably one of Puligny’s finest domaines. Established in the 1920s, the domaine is now in its fourth generation, with Etienne Sauzet’s great great granddaughter Emilie and Benoît Riffault, her winemaker husband, running the domaine. They own a total of 10 hectares in Puligny-Montrachet and have recently acquired five hectares in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. Etienne Sauzet also purchase grapes from family and trusted growers and have been practising biodynamic viticulture since 2008. The portion of new oak in the cellar has been reduced in recent years to allow the elegance of the fruit to shine through. Benoît’s immaculate winemaking clearly stands out in his wines, which are all about minerality, precision and exceptional length.
