Hermanos Lurton | Duero River Valley

Hermanos Lurton Vineyards in Rueda, Spain

Hermanos Lurton was formed in 1992, when brothers Jacques and François Lurton developed their passion for the unique 'Verdejo' grape variety, which is native to the region of Rueda, located in the south of Castile and León. Using the Domaines François Lurton expertise they quickly revolutionised the appellation's quality and style of wine. Seeking an estate to produce fine red wine they naturally turned to the Toro D.O. where they discovered old plots of exceptional 'Tinta de Toro' perfect for their cause.

Wine growing has been undertaken in the region for centuries: the Catholic Monarchs were producing well-reputed wines here as early as the 15th century. In these large terroirs with a strong identity, intersected by the River Duero, the vines grow in poor, deep, sandy and gravelly soil, known as "canto rodado". Authenticity, terroir, culture and hard work are all reflected in and make up the Hermanos Lurton cuvées.
