Pira Vineyards in the Serralunga commune of Piemonte, Italy

Established in the early 1950s, the Luigi Pira estate encompasses 12 hectares of vineyards planted to Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera grapes, grown in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba. The Pira vineyard holdings are in the three most prestigious crus of the Serralunga commune: Margheria, Marenca, and Rionda. For many years, the family only produced and sold their grapes, later producing and selling wine in bulk to local négociants. However, in the early 1990's Luigi's son, Giampaolo, took over the reins at the estate and the production of their own wines became a key factor. Today, Giampalo oversees the cellars and winemaking duties and is supported by his brothers, Romolo and Claudio.

“One of Piedmont’s superstars… these are wines of extraordinary complexity and breathtaking richness. The spectacular offerings from Pira ’s vineyards in and around Serralunga d’Alba are among the more riveting examples.”
