Gary Pisoni and his sons, Mark and Jeff, are triply blessed. They have one of California’s great vineyard sites, an obsessive attention to detail and the good taste to know when to leave well-alone and let their grapes do the talking. Specialising in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands, they bottle a single Pinot Noir under their estate label, the rest of the fruit finding its way into their second label, Lucia. These are arrestingly pure, focused and evocative wines.
