Meinert La Barry Red 2013

When Martin Meinert married Leigh Ann Barry (affectionately known as "La Barry") who only drinks white wine, he started making a Sauvignon Blanc in her honour - La Barry Sauvignon Blanc. Quite some years into their marriage Leigh Ann Barry still does not drink red wine; however, Martin now consistently makes a smooth gentle La Barry Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon in the hope that some time she will dabble on the dark side.

This soft, supple wine could easily be from Bordeaux. It has a lovely combination of gentleness of texture with classic dryness, and a mix of red berry fruit and savoury herbiness, just like a refreshing claret. In common with all of Martin's wines, it has beautiful purity and precision of flavour, and superb balance.
