Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2017
Domaine Huet's Le Mont vineyard is a steep and rocky eight hectare plot that sits atop the chalky Vouvray hillside, overlooking Tours. The soils are very stony (limestone) and there is a greenish band of calcareous clay running close to the surface resulting in wines that tend to have a greater degree of minerality. This dry style of Vouvray is rather austere at first showing a wine that requires patience. Lemon zest, white flower and green apple wrapped around a steel core. After a few minutes in the glass it starts to uncoil. Incredible freshness and restrained power.
