Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec
Domaine Huet's Clos du Bourg is a walled vineyard generally regarded as the greatest of the three Huet vineyards and makes some of the most powerful, long lived wines in Vouvray in both dry and sweet styles. With only a shallow top soil over solid tuffeau limestone, the vines almost immediately tap into the rich mineral bedrock, resulting in powerful, dense, yet very mineral and long-lived Chenin Blanc expressions. The walls of the Clos are also said to help facilitate a more humid microclimate favourable to botrytis and as such some legendary sweet white wines have been produced here.
The Clos du Bourg Vouvray Demi-Sec is pale golden in colour and the nose is dominated by orchard fruits, acacia and toast. The textural palate is full and intense with flavours of rhubarb compote, red fruits and exotic spices. Rounded, mineral and exquisite complexity show effortless power. Delicious now, but it will age gracefully for many a year.
