Katnook Estate Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Katnook Estate's Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon is one of only 53 wines listed in the ‘Outstanding’ category of the Langton’s VI, Classification of Australian Wine. This 20th release of the iconic wine is rated 96 points in Halliday's 2019 'Wine Companion' and was the last vintage that legendary winemaker Wayne Stehbens oversaw from start to finish, before his untimely passing in 2017.

Crafted only from exceptional small parcels of premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes sourced from Katnook's oldest Coonawarra terra rossa vineyards, the wine is matured for 36 months in a combination of French (57% new) and American oak barriques and hogsheads. The Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon displays a complex array of fruit, oak and subtle maturation aromas. An attractive combination of ripe black berry and plum fruit interwoven with notes of mocha, vanilla and cedar. The palate displays intricate layers of concentrated fruit and oak. Rich dark berry, mulberry and plum fruits with hints of mocha and vanilla are complemented by assertive fine-grained tannins and balanced oak maturation characters.

Cellared correctly, Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon will age gracefully for another 20 years.
