Langmeil Hangin' Snakes Shiraz Viognier 2016
The Langmeil Hangin' Snakes is an award winning red wine made from Shiraz (96%) alongside a small portion of the white Viognier grape (4%), aged for 15 months in oak. The name "Hangin' Snakes" originates from one of Langmeil's growers Wally Krieg, speaking in a local dialect known as ‘Barossa Deutsch’, a blend of German and English that embodies the history of the region. He didn't curse, just as his forbears didn’t, but in the heat of the vintage was often heard to mutter “Hangin’ Snakes!"
A rich and lifted perfume of violets and blue fruits jump out of the glass with hints of peach, pepper and herbal notes adding to the complexity. Ripe and juicy berries flow onto the medium-bodied palate with soft and velvety tannins adding a lovely structure and texture to the wine while sweet spice balances the juicy fruit through to the finish.
