Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Syrah San José de Apalta 2015

The Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Syrah is made from 100% Syrah grapes of the highest quality sourced from the estates own vineyard in San José de Apalta. All the fruit is hand harvested and once at the winery the best grapes are carefully selected using Vistalys optical berry selection (91%) and hand de-stemming (9%). A small portion of the wine (9%) was fermented using native yeast in small wooden French oak vats of 75Hl while 91% was fermented in stainless steel tanks. Matured in French oak for 20 months the Cuvée Alexandre Syrah is an intense, deep ruby red in colour. The nose displays spicy notes such as liquorice and bitter chocolate leading towards an intense ripe fruit expression of blackberries and plums. The palate is rich and persistent with firm tannins along with ripe fruit, cedar and a slightly toasted finish.
