Lapostolle Grand Selection Merlot 2015

The Lapostolle Grand Selection Merlot is made from a selection of Merlot (86%), Syrah (12%) and Petit Verdot (2%) grapes grown in Chiles Rapel Valley. The hand harvested grapes are carefully transported to the winery where only the best fruit is selected using state-of-the-art "Vistalys" optical berry selection technology. Fifty five per cent of the wine was aged in French oak barrels for 5 months to give an extra layer of complexity while keeping the fruit expression. The remaining 45% was aged in stainless steel tanks; resulting in great fruit with a fresh and pleasant palate. The wine was slightly filtered and clarified before the bottling.

The Grand Selection Merlot displays an expressive nose of red and black fruits such as blackberry along with fresh aromas such as thyme and black pepper. The palate is medium bodied with great balance and fruit expression.
