Marqués de Riscal Rioja Gran Reserva 2013

The Marqués de Riscal Rioja Gran Reserva is a timeless wine which represents almost two centuries of the winemaker’s skill. It has the traditional style of the Rioja Alavesa alongside 150 years experience and know-how of the bodega to ensure that the best vintages of this wine will keep for 50 years or more in the bottle. A wine for eternity! To make their Gran Reserva Rioja, Marqués de Riscal use 100% Tempranillo grapes from old vines over 80 years old. Only the finest selection is destined for the Gran Reserva which is matured in French oak barrels for between two and a half and three years, followed by another three years in bottle before its release. Deep black-cherry in colour it displays a very elegant, complex nose, with aromas of black fruit and lots of spice. It is smooth and round in the mouth, with tannins which are firm, yet silky and very sweet and which envelop the whole palate. The finish is long, lingering, fresh and balanced with a hint of fine elegant tannins.
