Matetic EQ Pinot Noir 2013
The Matetic EQ Pinot Noir has its origin in six different vineyards, all of them located on hill slopes and close to the winemaking cellar. The differing exposures to the sun, the use of different vine clones and the variations to the characteristics of the soils, give shape to a wine full of nuances and of great complexity.
The wine making process was carried out in open tanks, keeping each batch separate. First, a cold maceration of five to seven days was done, before fermentation with different yeasts. Later, it was placed in French oak barrels of different sizes: 228, 300 and 400 litters, where the malolactic fermentation was carried out, remaining there for 10 months. The wine received a soft clarification with egg white before being bottled.
The resulting EQ Pinot Noir is an intense bright red cherry colour. On the nose aromas of red fruits like ripe cherry and plum, mixed with spicy notes and herbs are present. The palate is delicate yet at the same time concentrated, with good structure and balance between acidity and the sweetness of the mature tannins. The finish is persistent and elegant.
