Matetic EQ Syrah 2014

Matetic EQ Syrah grapes originate from bio-dynamically and organically managed vineyards, located in the Rosario area, which are almost flat with a slight northerly exposure.

The grapes were cold macerated for 7 days before fermenting to achieve a slow extraction of the colour, flavours and aromas from the skin. The wine was then placed in carefully chosen French oak barrels, where the malolactic fermentation took place and where it stayed for 12 months before being bottled.

The resulting EQ Syrah is a very deep red in colour. On the nose it shows deep notes of black fruits and delicate floral aromas of violets together with mixed spices and hints of leather and chocolate. On the palate it has a velvety texture, a firm body, but soft and elegant at the same time.

Thanks to the cold climate where it matures, it is a delicate and perfectly balanced wine. Upon contact with the air, the wine opens up and shows great complexity and intensity; its rounded tannins give it a good structure, balance and long lasting nature in the mouth.
