Silverado Vineyards Mt. George Merlot 2015
Grapes for the Silverado Vineyards Mt. George Merlot are sourced from a site located east of Napa in Coombsville. The Mt. George vineyard was one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the 19th century and it climbs the western slopes of an ancient volcano whose name the vineyard bears. Aged for 16 months in a combination of French and Hungarian oak (43% new) this award winning Merlot displays aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, star anise and clove with a hint of flakey pie crust. Full-bodied with a broadly structured mid-palate, the wine has a velvety texture, concentrated cassis flavours and a long, dusty cocoa finish.
