Storm Ignis Pinot Noir 2020
The Storm Wines 'Ignis' Pinot Noir is sourced from vines planted on a northern slope in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Organically farmed, the vineyard is cluttered with round pebbles on the soil surface with underlying decomposed granite. Latin for “fire”, ignis refers to the fact that granite is an igneous rock formation – “from fire to stone”. With juicy acidity and zippy fruit, the Ignis Pinot Noir has an immediate fragrant character that is appealing from the outset. Aged in 25% new French barrique for 11 months and released after 15 months in bottle this is an elegant wine showing beautiful balance and a faithful depiction of the site’s decomposed granite soil.
