Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove 2016
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove red wine is a blend of Merlot (64%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (9%) grapes. It combines the structure and balance of Ornellaia with the freshness and accessibility of a wine destined for younger drinking. Le Serre Nuove has an opulent bouquet with exotic sweet cassis fruit characters complimented by rich spicy notes and dark smoky/savoury aromas. The palate is ripe and textured with velvety tannins and lively damson fruit flavours. The finish is long, vibrant and refreshing. This is a wine of class and sophistication that will be approachable in a few years but has fine ageing potential.
