Blank Canvas is the uncompromising vinous studio of award-winning winemaking consultant Matt Thomson and Master of Wine Sophie Parker-Thomson. With over 40 years of collective experience in the global fine wine industry, this dynamic husband-and-wife team produces fiercely small-batch New Zealand fine wines from exceptional, single-vineyard sites across Marlborough, Hawke's Bay, and Central Otago.

Leaving a successful career in law behind her, Sophie has travelled extensively through Europe, working alongside Matt to harvest over 50 international vintages. This profound global perspective serves as the founding inspiration for the estate. Rather than adhering to a rigid house style or chasing commercial trends, they approach every single vineyard, grape variety, and vintage as if it were a literal blank canvas.
