While Champagne, Cava and Prosecco lead the way in bottle-fermented sparkling wine production many other wine regions in the world have adopted the method of secondary fermentation and maturation in bottle to produce their own version of sparkling wine.

Notable examples of these excellent alternatives to Champagne can be found in the sparkling wines from England, Australia and New Zealand, whilst a number of wine regions in France also make sparkling wines in variations of style and grape selection to those used in Champagne.
