Bodegas El Grifo | Lanzarote
Bodegas El Grifo has an unparalleled history in Spanish wine, being the oldest winery in the Canaries and among the ten oldest in the whole of Spain. The family estate was established in 1775 on the beautiful, volcanic island of Lanzarote and is currently owned by the fifth generation brothers Juan José and Fermín Otamendi Rodríguez-Bethencourt. The vineyard covers 61 hectares of pre phylloxera vines. Situated at 28° latitude, the vines are cultivated against the odds, as they are exposed to constant trade winds and hot, arid conditions; but with meticulous attention in the vineyard and winery, Bodegas El Grifo culminates its years of experience to produce authentic wines of outstanding quality.
