Bouvet Ladubay | Saumur

Bouvet Ladubay's Cellars in Saumer

For over 170 years, Bouvet Ladubay has stood as a towering pioneer of traditional method sparkling wine in France's historic Loire Valley. Founded in 1851 in Saumur by the visionary couple Étienne Bouvet and Célestine Ladubay, this house embodies a commitment to quality, value, and history that few producers can match.

Often lauded as "the Champagne of the Loire," Bouvet Ladubay offers world-class fizz that rivals its northern neighbour but at a fraction of the cost, making it a favourite among sommeliers and savvy collectors alike.

Bouvet Ladubay's success is deeply rooted in its location and method. The winery is housed in one of the Loire Valley's most spectacular sites: 8 kilometres of underground tunnels and cellars carved directly into the soft, porous Tuffeau limestone. These caves, originally quarry sites, maintain a natural, constant cool temperature and humidity- the perfect conditions for the slow, quiet secondary fermentation and extended ageing that defines great sparkling wine.
