L'IF | Saint Émilion

Château L'IF is a perfectly situated wine estate on the Saint-Émilion plateau, close to the prestigious vineyards of Château Troplong Mondot and Château Valandraud. Owned by Jacques Thienpont, known for Château Le Pin in Pomerol, L'IF is named for the 'Yew Tree' (L'If in French), mirroring Le Pin's name, which means 'Pine Tree' and the third estate 'L'Hêtre' (Beech tree). Today, the estate is run by Cyrille, the son of Nicolas Thienpont, Jacques cousin, and comprises 8 hectares planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. The wines are intense and spicy, beautifully fresh and structured with chalky precision and elegance.
