The Col Solare Winery in Washington State's Red Mountain Region Lit Up at Night

Col Solare, Italian for "Shining Hill," is more than a wine - it's a bold vision realised on the sun-drenched slopes of Washington's Red Mountain. Born from an historic partnership between two titans of wine, the legendary Marchesi Antinori of Tuscany and America's acclaimed Chateau Ste. Michelle, Col Solare represents the ultimate fusion of Old World elegance and New World intensity. The inaugural vintage was 1995 with a simple mission: to craft a world-class, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon blend that perfectly expresses the power of Washington terroir with the refined structure of Italian tradition.

Col Solare's estate vineyard is nestled in the tiny, intensely warm Red Mountain AVA. Its unique, nutrient-poor, sandy soils and intense diurnal temperature shifts produce small, thick-skinned berries. This results in wines with concentrated fruit flavor, deep color, and powerful, yet supple, tannins. The vineyard was planted using the same high-density and radial specifications utilised in Antinori’s own celebrated Tuscan and Umbrian estates, ensuring that the fruit expresses its full, complex potential.

The Antinori family acquired full ownership of the Col Solare estate in 2024.
