Château Mayne Graves Bordeaux Supérieur 2018
Château Mayne-Graves Bordeaux Supérieur is a great introduction to the wines of Bordeaux. The property is owned by the Guimberteau family, who are also the owners of the excellent Château La Courolle Montagne-Saint-Émilion. The family have been been running vineyards on Bordeaux’s Right Bank for over a century but they only planted Château Mayne-Graves in 2002, intrigued by the particularly gravelly terroir. The vineyard is just 4 hectares in size and is located next to Montagne-Saint Émilion, so is unsurprisingly receptive to and successful with the Merlot vine. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes that offers plump plum fruit, with nice leafy tannins and firm structure.
