The Spittoon is Retired: Announcing the Hic! 2026 Wine Tasting Season

THE RULE BOOK HAS CHANGED.

You may have been to a wine tasting before. You might be expecting a lecture hall, a PowerPoint presentation and a spittoon. You sit in rows. You wait for everyone to stop talking and you then listen to a 45-minute lecture. You get a thimble of wine.

You won't find any of those things here at Hic!

For the 2026 Tasting Season, we are doubling down on our core philosophy: Drinking. Not Tasting. We believe that wine is meant to be enjoyed, not analysed to death. Our monthly events in the Courtyard are designed to be social, raucous, and unashamedly premium. We don't do "exams." We don't do "blind tasting challenges." We just pour the bottles we actually want to drink.

HOW IT WORKS: YOUR TABLE, YOUR PACE. We believe wine is social. It shouldn't be interrupted by a lecturer.

It’s Private: You aren't thrown into a group of strangers. You book a private table for your party, and we deliver the tasting directly to you.

It’s Flexible: There is no "7:00 PM start time." Tasting's can be booked anytime the shop is open. Whether you want a Friday post-work wind-down, or Sunday lunch session, the calendar is yours.

The Cut-Off: The last booking of the evening is 6:00 PM (to allow you enough time to enjoy the flight properly before we close).

THE THREE PILLARS OF 2026

1. NO EXAMS. We aren't here to lecture you on soil pH or malolactic fermentation (unless you really ask). We are here to pour great wine and tell the stories behind the labels.

2. ALL KILLERS, NO FILLERS. We don't use these nights to clear old stock. Every bottle on the slate is chosen because it justifies its place on the table. We always pour wines with a retail value in excess of £20, so you can experience the difference between "good" and "world-class."

3. SUSTENANCE & SIDES. Good wine demands good food. Every ticket now includes our essential "Tasting Slate" - a curated selection of artisan cheeses and crackers. For those who want to make a meal of it, you can upgrade to our Sharing Cheese Board or Full House Charcuterie at the time of booking.

THE 2026 LINE UP

We are kicking off in March with a tribute to the women changing the industry, and we don't stop until the festive corks fly in December.

  • MARCH: Women With Bottle: Celebrating the Maverick Queens of the cellar on a global scale. Grace, power, and world-class winemaking.
  • APRIL: Southern Stars: A frantic journey through the Southern Cross. Four heavyweights. One night. The high-altitude intensity of the Andes meets the sun-soaked power of Australia and New Zealand.
  • MAY: Iberian Icons: The Bull & The Rooster. From the Atlantic salt-spray to the dust-blown interior. We are pouring the full spectrum of the Peninsula: crisp, saline Whites vs. brooding, muscular Reds. Spain vs. Portugal.
  • JUNE: Pretty in Pink!: This is serious Rosé for serious drinkers. We explore the full spectrum of the pink grape—from the whisper-light elegance of Provence to the deep, structural power of Tavel.
  • JULY: The Big Bash: Celebrating 250 years of Liberty. The 2026 Semiquincentennial. A West Coast takeover. The blockbuster power of California meets the cool-climate finesse of the Pacific Northwest. Big, bold, and unapologetically American.
  • AUGUST: Holiday Hotspots (Travel by Glass): The bottles we seek out when the sun hits the horizon. We are touring the world’s favourite destinations - an international guide on what to drink when you get there (and what to drink right here).
  • SEPTEMBER: Cape Crusaders (Old Vines, New Wave): South Africa is producing the most electric wines on the planet. We explore the collision of ancient granite soils and the cold Atlantic ocean. Pure, wild energy.
  • OCTOBER: The Italian Job (Renaissance Rebels): A heist of Italy’s most sophisticated wines. We are stealing the best of the boot - not just the "blood-red" powerhouses, but the mineral-laced liquid gold of the Italian white grapes.
  • NOV / DEC: Glitz & Gastronomy The Art of the Feast (The Grand Finale): We are extending the session for the festive season with a welcome Aperitif and a closing Digestif. Pure decadence for the festive table.
