Jane Lemorton 15 Year Old Vieux Calvados Domfrontais
The Lemorton family are located in the Calvados Appellation Domfrontais, the smallest region of Calvados and one of its finest. Located in the southernmost area of Lower Normandy the soils here are high in granite and schist, resulting in a haven for pear trees. It is because of this, Calvados produced in Domfrontais must be made of at least 30% pears, producing a very different, elegant and floral spirit. The Lemorton Calvados is distilled from cider which has been aged in oak barrels for approximately 11 months. The high pear content results in an elegant and light Calvados that displays beautiful aromatic notes of fruit. The palate is long and impressive with notes of baked apples reminiscent of a fine Tarte Tatin.
