Grosset Vineyards in the Clare Valley, South Australia

The Clare Valley wine region is situated in the northern Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia, with the first vineyards planted and wines produced in the early 1840s. It is considered one of the most picturesque wine regions in South Australia, with renowned wine critic James Halliday describing the Clare Valley as one of Australia’s most beautiful wine-producing regions.

The region enjoys a moderate continental climate, with warm to hot summer days moderated by cooling afternoon and night breezes. This diurnal variation slows the ripening period on the vines and adds complexity to the wines. Consequently, some of Australia's finest Riesling is grown in the Clare Valley, but the region is also noted for its many other wine styles, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
