Umani Ronchi 'Plenio' Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva 2020/21
Plenio is Umani Ronchi's flagship Verdicchio Riserva which according to law must be aged for a minimum of 18 months of which at least six must be in bottle prior to release. The name of the wine, from the Latin Plenum, is intended to suggest the characteristics of fullness, complexity and structure. It is a wine to be appreciated for its lingering persistence and for its richness of perfumes and aromas, which combine with the elegance of great whites to make it a unique wine. At the winery the Verdicchio grapes are soft-pressed and the must is then rapidly cooled. 60% of the juice ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the remaining 40% ferments in 5,000-litre oak casks. About 10-15% of the total volume of the wine sees malolactic fermentation. Fine and creamy, this elegant, medium-bodied white layers lightly juicy acidity with well-meshed flavors of baked pear and apricot, pastry cream, ground ginger and jasmine. Offers a lasting finish, with a rich hint of hazelnut.
