Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018
Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made from predominantly three grape varieties, Grenache (65%), Syrah (15%) and Mourvèdre (15%), with Cinsault, Clairette and sundry others making up the final 5%. The vines are on average 70 years old and are planted on the celebrated Plateau de la Crau, a site renowned from grape growing in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This terroir imparts a distinctive minerality to the wines. Once at their state-of-the-art gravity flow winery, the grapes are partially destemmed and are fermented in both stainless steel and wood cuves. Matured in large Frenck oak foudres for up to 22 months the wines is bottled unfined and unfiltered and the released after a further 2 years in bottle. Intense colour, tremendous concentration, complexity and velvety smooth flavours are the hallmarks of Vieux Télégraphe and the best vintages will age for 20 years and more.
