RUA Pinot Noir 2022
The Skeggs family were among the first to purchase and plant vineyards in Central Otago during the mid-1990s. They have since built an enviable reputation for Pinot Noir through the exceptional wines they produce at RUA. With ownership of six vineyards, comprising 90 hectares, across the Bannockburn and Pisa sub-regions of Central Otago, RUA have the enviable position of selecting parcels of fruit ideally suited to create their accessible style of cool climate Pinot Noir. RUA Pinot Noir is an evocative snapshot of the berry perfume and resonant roasted spice profile of Central Otago. Sumptuous and plushy-fruited it is a heavenly wine for everyday, with impressive structure and layers of complexity. This Pinot Noir displays lifted cherry aromas along with lavender, violets and raspberry. The palate is vibrant and concentrated with a red berry fruit character and darker notes of blackberries and black cherries. Soft silken tannins, a bright structural acidity and stony mineral thread linger on the finish. Awarded five trophies and 15 gold medals over the last six vintages, RUA is a testament to the quality of fruit and the Skeggs family’s early recognition of Central Otago’s potential.
