Birgit Eichinger | Kamptal
Birgit Eichinger began her winemaking career experimenting with 3.5 hectares of vines from her parents’ business in the Kamptal region of Austria. Her success led to the establishment of her own winery in 1992. Standing at the foot of the Gaisberg mountain, the winery is ultramodern and vinification takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with the emphasis being placed on the purity of the must prior to fermentation.
Depending on the vintage, the Grüner Veltliner is also aged in barriques. The vineyard area has expanded since its beginnings and Birgit now has access to fruit from more than 9 hectares of vines from the best traditional sites in the Strass. Birgit’s wines are highly elegant, expressive and with great personal character; very much like Birgit herself.
