Campolargo Vinhos Vineyards in Bairrada, Portugal

Campolargo Vinhos is a third-generation, family-owned wine producer, located in the Bairrada wine region of Portugal. They own two estates; Quinta de Vale d’ Azar and Quinta de S. Mateus. Taking over in the 1960s, Martinho Campolargo’s son Manuel abandoned winemaking, preferring instead to focus on grape growing. He expanded the vineyards, growing innovative varieties to help his négociant clients court new export markets. In 2000, Manuel’s sons Carlos and Jorge not only returned to making wine, but also established the family’s eponymous label. With 160 hectares planted to 28 grape varieties of local, broader Portuguese and French origin, Campolargo is one of Bairrada’s most sizeable and eclectic producers.
