Château La Tour de By | Médoc

The Château La Tour de By and vineyards close to the Gironde in Bordeaux

Château La Tour de By is a large Cru Bourgeois estate located in Bégadan at the viticultural northern extremes of the Médoc. The actual Château is a stately building dating back to 1876 and was bought in 1965 by Messieurs Pages, Cailloux and Lapalu who set about extending the cuvier and installing new cellars. Today, cousins Frédéric Le Clerc and Benjamin Richer des Forges, grandson's of the late Marc Pagès run the property very capably.

A further 12 hectares of superb land have been purchased, to add to the previous 55 hectares and the average age of the vines is now well over 40 years. An impressive temperature-controlled storage cellar has been built and they are in the process of building a totally new temperature-controlled chai.

The situation of Château La Tour de By is quite stunning, overlooking the Gironde estuary and it is unquestionably one of the leading Cru Bourgeois properties in the Médoc.
