Chimney Rock | Stag's Leap District

Chimney Rock Winery and Vineyards in Stags Leap District, California

Situated on the famed Silverado Trail in Napa Valley's renowned Stags Leap District, Chimney Rock is recognized as one of the world's premier fine wine producers. Established in 1984, Chimney Rock made it their mission to create wines that would compete against the best of Bordeaux. The estate's location in the Stags Leap District, Napa Valley's smallest and most acclaimed sub-appellation, allows winemaker, Elizabeth Vianna to capture this unique terroir and create powerful, yet graceful wines that rival the most important wines of the world.

Chimney Rock takes its name from the rock formations on the Palisades behind the winery which resemble chimney stacks. In the early 1990s, the Cape Dutch-style winery and tasting room were added to the estate, complete with the allegorical frieze of Ganymede - cupbearer to the gods. In 2000, the Terlato family joined the Wilson family and in 2002, the remaining land, covering 18 hectares, was planted entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2004, the Terlato family assumed sole ownership of the estate and ensures the highest standards in viticulture and winemaking. Chimney Rock now comprises 48 hectares of vineyard, divided into 28 distinct blocks, allowing for highly specialised viticulture suited to each specific site.

Chimney Rock is a Terlato Family winery and embodies the family's dedication to producing wines of exceptional quality.
