Finca Decero | Mendoza
Finca Decero is a single vineyard estate that was launched in 2008 and since when has gone on to achieve critical acclaim for its small, focussed portfolio of 5 high quality red wines. Decero, meaning ‘from scratch’ consists of one hundred hectares of vineyard newly planted in 2000 at 1050 metres above sea level, alongside a new state of the art winery. The vineyard is in Agrelo, a micro-region located at the foothill of the Andes and it is one of the most distinguished regions of Luján de Cuyo. In this microclimate, bunches mature slowly until they reach full ripeness and achieve great tannic concentration which provides structure to wines. Thomas Schmidheiny (Swiss owner) has a world class vision and this is demonstrated throughout every aspect of the vineyard and winery. The emphasis here is very much on sustainability, the vines are all hand-tended (not even tractors are used), minimal treatment and precision viticulture for optimum fruit quality.
