Wine By Grape Variety | Grenache

Organic Vineyard with grass crop cover

Grenache or Garnacha, as it is referred to in Spain, is a black grape variety and one of the most widely planted red wine varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in Spain, Sardinia, and the south of France, South Africa and California.

It is partly responsible for the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel and many other wines in the Rhône Valley and it is also widely used in the Rioja wine region of Spain.
