Jesús Madrazo Real de Asua (or 'Chus' to those that no him) is from one of the founding families of Compania Vinicola del Norte Espana (C.V.N.E) and his much loved father José was a co-founder of the iconic Contino in 1973, the first single estate in Rioja. Jesús, who is now the 5th Generation of the founding families of C.V.N.E joined the company as winemaker in Haro in 1995 and then in 1999 was appointed Senior Winemaker at Contino Estate where he gained global recognition. Jesús is also credited as creating the first ever 100% Graciano in Spain.

In 2017 Jesús left Contino in search of new challenges and set up his own business with his initial focus being on unique wines from DOCa Rioja and DO Ribera del Duero. He is rightly considered one of Spain’s greatest winemakers with a worldwide following and as such his new venture will certainly be worth watching!
