Klet Brda Winery | Goriška Brda

Vineyards of Klet Brda in Goriška Brda, Slovenia

The Klet Brda winery is to be found on Slovenia's western border in the premium region of Goriška Brda. This is effectively a continuation of Italy’s Collio wine region, evident in the plantings of Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and Ribolla Gialla, known locally as Rebula. The winery was established in 1957, directly under the vast Dobrovo Castle and the vineyards were replanted, helping to elevate Brda among the best wine regions of the world. The cellar is around 15 meters below the ground and holds stainless steel tanks and Slovanian oak barrels. The winery unites 400 families, who have been working together for over fifty years and have turned local winemaking into a success story.

The Quercus wines are made a stone’s throw (a couple of miles, anyway) from the vineyards of Collio. Goriška Brda is Slovenian for Collio Goriziano, and while these hills may be divided by a political boundary, viticulturally they are one and the same.
