La Pèira | Terrasses du Larzac

La Pèira Vineyards in Terrasses du Larzac AOC

Languedoc newcomer La Pèira is steadily putting the Terrasses du Larzac appellation on the wine map. Since the inaugural 2005 vintage, Robert Dougan and his Languedoc-born wife Karine Ahton’s wines have won fast-growing acclaim. In the mid-nineties, Robert Dougan emigrated from his native Australia to London. He began as a dishwasher and worked his way up to a successful music career, later being nominated for a Grammy and writing the 1995 hit ‘Clubbed to Death’, subsequently used in The Matrix films.

La Pèira is situated on a terrace of drained glacial, Bordeaux like gravels. Fastidious attention to detail in all aspects has made for whites of nuanced texture and complex,
herb-infused reds of stature and energy. As the Terrasses du Larzac AOC is for reds only, La Pèira Blanc is labelled Pays d’Hérault IGP, whilst the second white, Deusyls de la Pèira Blanc, is Vin de Pays de l’Hérault.
