Mastrojanni has been writing history with its wines since 1975, collecting awards from all over the world. Today, thanks to an exceptional terroir and to the men who have believed in it for decades, this wine estate has become one of the most respected of Italian wine producers. Located in the hamlet of Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the south easternmost corner of Montalcino, the estates of San Pio and Loreto were first purchased by lawyer Gabriele Mastrojanni in 1975. With a desire to make a fine Brunello, Gabriele recognised what potential the sparse landscape had to offer, and so planted his first vineyards with the Sangiovese Grosso grape perfectly suited for the terroir. Andrea Machettia took on the reins of Mastrojanni in 1992, and alongside winemaker Maurizio Castelli, has transformed the estate into one of the finest estates in Montalcino with a world famous reputation for excellent quality.
