Robert Oatley Vineyards | New South Wales

Robert Oatley Winery & Cellar Door in Margaret River, Western Australia

Robert Oatley Vineyards is the latest venture of the Oatley family winemaking dynasty, which was founded by the late industry legend Bob Oatley. Bob Oatley was a proud and passionate Australian who is credited with pioneering Australian wine to the rest of the world. Oatley owned Rosemount Estate for several decades, the most recognised and successful family-owned Australian winery. His legacy continues in his eldest son Sandy, who worked alongside his father for many years and manages the business today.

Created in 2006, Robert Oatley Vineyards aims to embody the best that Australia can produce where classic grape varieties are matched to the leading wine regions of Australia. Along with grapes from the family properties, some dating back to 1858, the Oatley family draw upon select growers of excellence across a diverse range of climatic regions. A deep understanding of viticulture enables the team to identify the best vineyard sites in Australia.

Robert Oatley Vineyards make wine in three different locations, a commitment to the regionality of the wines they produce. The Robert Oatley winery is based at the Oatley family home in Mudgee, New South Wales. They also have a 1930s planted vineyard and a small estate in the heart of McLaren Vale and a small batch winery in the heart of Margaret River in Western Australia. Robert Oatley Wines celebrates the memory of Bob Oatley through a trio of labels: the maritime-influenced Signature Series, the specific vineyard focused Finisterre, and the best of the best barrels under The Pennant. The talented winemaking team is led by Larry Cherubino – one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers.
