Samuel Smith's Organic Raspberry Fruit Beer
The Samuel Smith's organic Raspberry fruit beer is brewed at Melbourn Brothers' All Saints Brewery in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Different strains of yeasts are used to ferment the fruit beers, including some wild yeast, which needs to be kept away from the yeast used at the Old Brewery in Tadcaster. All Saints Brewery is located in the shadow of the 14th Century All Saints Church in the heart of the beautiful stone-built town. The tiny brewery is set in a time warp with the ancient manually-operated equipment still used for every brew. The Melbourn Brothers' steam engine dating from 1910 is used to drive the malt mill and mash tun rakes via a system of belts. The mash tun was built in 1876. The finest organically grown barley and wheat are used to create a complex ale which, having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smith’s small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is blended with pure organic raspberry fruit juice and more organic beer to create a fruit beer of considerable strength and flavour. Samuel Smith's Organic Raspberry Fruit Beer is a delicious and refreshing fruit beer with a prominent raspberry aroma and flavour. On the nose, there are strong notes of sweet and tart raspberries, accompanied by a subtle underlying maltiness. The aroma has dominant raspberry scents whilst on the palate, the beer is light-bodied, with a sweet and sour balance that is reminiscent of raspberry sorbet.
