Montevetrano 2019

Dubbed the "Sassicaia of the South" by Robert Parker, Montevetrano is a red wine blend composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Aglianico and Merlot grapes grown on the estates own vineyards just a few kilometres from the ancient city of Salerno in Campania. After fermentation the wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barriques sourced from Nevers, Allier and Tronçais followed by a further 6 months refinement In bottle prior to release. Montevetrano is a rich and elegant wine. Dark ruby red in colour, it displays aromas of sour cherry, red berries and liquorice on the nose. The palate is complex and rich. Cinnamon and cardamom are well blended with mineral notes whilst the crisp acidity makes the wine long lasting on the finish. The tannins are round developing in a fruity balsamic aroma.
