Sutherland Vineyards | Elgin, South Africa
Gyles Webb purchased a small fruit farm called 'Sutherland' in the up-and-coming region of Elgin back in 2002. The property is just seven kilometres from the ocean to the south and west. Whilst Sauvignon Blanc has been offered for sale from this property for a couple of vintages now, it is only this year that a full range of wines which encapsulate the variety and complexity of this cool climate region have become available.
The Sutherland range of wines creates a stylistic point of difference to their internationally recognised cousin 'Thelema' from Stellenbosch. The Sutherland style is all about poise and multi-layered complexity with a taut mineral element.
